beautiful reminders

At this point of term my Easter holiday feels like a very long time ago. Looking back at the photos has just reminded me of the wonderful fresh air, beautiful landscapes, great company and achy legs! Our five days (of fairly strenuous) walking were sandwiched between time in Granada, one of my favourite cities in Spain.
As for the Alpujarras, well they definitely now have a special place in my heart. I loved the mix of solitude (we barely saw a soul as we walked) and comaraderie (it was a team effort) as well as the feeling of accomplishement we felt while drinking our cañas on arrival each evening. Most of all, the trip reminded me of the simple beauty we often forget about when we get carried away by city life; snow topped mountains smiling at you across a valley, birdsong, wild flowers, orange trees, almost deserted villages nesteled into the hillside. I needed reminding.
